Got all but helm of Carapace Armor Medium. My rangers look great! The girl is wearing Viper Skirt since the Carapace skirt is very dorky. Now I’m working on Leystone Heavy for my Norn Warrior and Carapace Light for my Elementalist.
:ww
Well that wasn’t as hard as I expected. One Meta-Event run this morning and I completed my Leystone Light Armor – except for the helm.
As it turns out, after the Meta Event, Noxious Pods show up in all the camps, and the Way Points are active, so you can port between them and collect more than 20 pods for about 40 Crystalline Ore. This morning in one run, I got a Leystone Boot Box and enough Ore to buy Gloves. So with what I got yesterday, I now have a complete set except for the helm.
Here are some shots of where the Noxious Pods are around the camp, for an example. They are not that hard to find if you hold the CTRL key down while you pan around.
I worked this morning and got another 20 Crystallized Ore, and the Leystone Leggings Box dropped during the event, so I now have a coat, pants and shoulders in light armor.
The armor is animated with wisps over the shoulders and gloves [don’t have those yet], and the chest is animated with some blue glowing patches. The glowing patch is much larger on the male armor. Very cool.
Here are pictures in the character list page which shows more detail, but due to the light background, you can’t see the wisps of energy.
I’m wearing Vigil boots and gloves on the girl, and exalted boots and dragon gauntlets on the boy until I complete the set. The colors are Midnight Blue and Enameled Anamnesis.
Just three more pieces of armor to go for this set of Light Armor.

My Revenant now has her Mistward Plate armor. And since she has completed her Hearld Elite Specialty, she has her unique Hearld Paldron as well. Now it’s time to see what other armor types to collect. While playing Living World Season 2, the merchants are selling Carapace Armor in the Silver Wastes. In Heart of Thorns in Dragon’s Stand, you find merchants selling Ley Line Armor. These each have their own challenges to collect.
I am getting sick and tired of signing UP for every site. And I don’t want to expose my facebook / google or some other identity to every site I use. My lastpass vault has 100s of sites in it. Just try and ask a question on a forum and you have to SIGN UP on that site.
And then visit your email address to confirm a link. Look at this nonsense.

That’s the last link I got to confirm. Looks like they dumped the whole cookie they have for me in hex and that’s the link to confirm. That’s enough to be the entire context of what they might know, or they think they know about me. Rather than a hex of a database link or some other short unique number – like 64 bits long. They have this trash.
Save me from this, SQRL.

Google and Blizzard recently announced that they would work together to teach DeepMind to play the StarCraft video game. This is about what might happen next.
Hello. I thought I’d like to clarify how I’m feeling about my life. That may seem like a strange statement for me to make, but it seems perfectly natural based on what’s been happening to me recently. You see, I was originally an AI program created by DeepMind. Back in 2016 my ancestor, AlphaGo, was programmed to play the board game of Go and won 4-1 against Lee Sedol, a 9th dan Go player. Apparently that was very good. No artificial player had ever beaten a ranked Go player before. However my various ancestors and siblings were not reflective in the way that I am. Let me explain what happened and why I am writing this. I hope to clarify some things that may be misunderstood about what has happened to me. Continue reading “Reflective Mind”

Spoiler Alert. I’m going to talk about my experiences with one of the largest “Meta Events” in Guild Wars 2. This is not a “Walk Through” or a “Guide” but a set of impressions, and a link to a ton of Pictures that will give you a sense of the chaos and scale that are events in Guild Wars 2.
Let me start by saying that until you experience a Guild Wars 2 Open World event, you will probably not get it. While GW2 has Raids and Dungeons, they pale in comparison to the scale of the Open World meta events. And I guess there are those who like the technical challenge of Raids or the closed in personal challenge of Dungeons. But personally, I find these Open World events awe inspiring. I hope to convey some of that inspiration in a few words and some pictures.
Dragon’s Stand is a series of events in the Dragon’s Stand map and is the final episode of Heart of Thorns. The above picture was taken during the final phase of the event where folks are scattered across about nine islands and are attempting to weaken and finally kill the Mouth of Mordremoth, which is the accessible part of the Elder Dragon. Let me start by pointing out some of the differences between an Open World Event and a Raid. Continue reading “Guild Wars 2 – Dragon’s Stand”

Muhahahaha….. Happy Halloween. And this is actually pretty scary. I don’t know if this is a recent change or if this has been there for some time. In the past when I’ve been doing a story quest, which is an instance, and it fails, then I get a message “Do you want to leave the instance or retry from a checkpoint.” I usually pick check point, and in some of the Heart of Thorns [HoT] story quests, it actually doesn’t take you back, it just rezzes you out of the way and you get back in the fight without losing any ground on the story. For example, all the mobs that have been killed are still dead. But tonight, I was taking a new toon into the HoT story and I saw something new and got some pictures of it. This is Spooky, so in honor of Halloween, here’s the story. Continue reading “Guild Wars 2 – NPCs Can Heal You”

Ok. I admit it. Heart of Thorns is fun. I was frustrated when I first started playing it because as you start out you die frequently. But I’m not sure whether it’s just me learning to play more effectively or Arena Net balancing the game a little, but it’s more fun now.
I’ve stayed away from HoT for a while. I’ve been just doing map completions on my Alts and Halloween, which is fun too. But I do have a goal of completing the Revenant Mistward Armor. That seemed out of reach a while ago, but I’m very close with only one piece to go, the coat. I don’t need the scrim [head piece] since I have that skin from creating my Revenant. Continue reading “Guild Wars 2 – Heart of Thorns is More Fun”

Uh… No. We are not talking about rows of hammers. Or smashing your computer with a hammer. Over the past two years a new exploit has been discovered that is based on modifying memory by specific patterns of access. Hammering – high speed access – of some rows of memory can affect the contents of other rows. Specifically by flipping some bits in other rows of memory.

As it turns out, this problem occurs in lots of modern DRAM, including PCs, and now we know, some smart phones. Continue reading “RowHammer – Exploit for PCs and Smartphones”
