Alienware m15x – All is Well

After Alienware returned the m15x, it has been fine. I’m happy to report that the system that does not need a lap-cooler. I’ve used it for several hours at a stretch in non-stealth [full power] mode using 3ds-max 2009 and secondlife.

I found a pretty neat laptop tray on the web.

The configuration is as follows:

VISTA ULTIMATE COA 32 BIT

Super system. I highly recommend these systems. My only complaint is that Alienware does not provide an option to run Vista x64. Vista x86 provides access to 3069MB out of the 4096MB that the system contains. At least that’s better than the 2700MB that was accessible with the Area-51 Desktop I purchased in April 2007. I upgraded that system to x64, and lost access to the AlienFX control software, which does not yet run on x64. Given the keyboard and lighting, as well as control buttons above the keyboard, going to x64 and losing control of all these features is not an option.

Another feature of note with this system is the lighted keyboard. I find it is very responsive. Here are some more pictures:

Notebook closed.

Sure would be nice if the wireless mouse interface was built in. The cable keeps it from sticking out so far from the side of the notebook.
