In Elder Scrolls Online, there are three Gear Set Buffs, that I know of, that provide a colorful signal around your character that you are carrying the buff. These buffs provide a wide area buff to many of the group members around you.
Notice the buff that is listed when Five items from that set are equipped.
What the note does not say is that each buff is signaled by three colored orbs floating around you. Red for Ebon Armor, Blue for Worm Cult and Green for Hircine’s Veneer.

When you log in the orbs are aligned and the colors combine. Depending on how the gear is worn swapping weapons may change which sets are active and then the orbs will not align.
It’s possible using the Seven Armor pieces and Three jewelry pieces [ Neck and two rings] to get two set bonuses that are active regardless of weapons.

Perfect for Arcanist, wouldn’t you say. Here I’ve combined the set bonus for Hircine’s set with the Oblivion‘s Edge set.
It appears that set bonuses are important once you reach 50, but they are available before that. But I’m new to the game.
